Knudsen, Betty Ann (20 June 1926 - 1 March 2012)

 

Betty A. Knudsen, 85, Durand, formerly of Neillsville and Willard, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, at  Oakview Care Center, Durand.

 

Betty Ann Johnson was born June 20, 1926, in Kimballton, IA, to Lars and Hazel Johnson.  She was raised in Elkhorn, Kimballton and Audobon, IA.  She married Warren Knudsen Dec. 5, 1946, in Audobon. They farmed in Iowa until Dec. 5, 1958, when they moved to Willard. They operated a family dairy farm until they retired in 1982.  They moved to Neillsville in 2002, and she made her final home at Oakview Care Center, Durand, in 2011.  She was an expert at crocheting and she loved to read and play cards. She especially loved spending time with her family. 

 

Survivors include two daughters, Rosalie Wiand, Pulaski, and Wanda (George) Eitland, Green Bay; five sons, Douglas (Diane( Knudsen, Durand, Larry (Donna) Knudsen, Willard, Craig (Debra) Knudsen, Wausau, Curtis (Sandra) Knudsen, Wausau, and Paul (Tami) Knudsen, Wyoming, MN; 11 grandchildren, Scott (Kay) Wiand, Trent Knudsen, Kendra (Nick) Weber, Crystal (Travis) Klonecki, Preston Eitland, Shawn (Sara) Knudsen, Leo Knudsen, Ryan Knudsen, Luke Drinkard-Knudsen, Michael Knudsen and Cassandra Knudsen; six great-grandchildren, Haylee Knudsen, Kelsey Knudsen, Alexander Wiand, Addysen Weber, Maci Knudsen and Rylee Weber; one sister Leanna (Harold) Jens, Avoca, IA; one brother, Jerry (Anita) Johnson, Houston, TX; one sister-in-law, Shirley Johnson, Algona, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Knudsen; her parents, Lars and Hazel Johnson; and one brother, Darrell Johnson.

 

A memorial service for Betty will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Neillsville, with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be held at a later date at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Spooner.

 

Buchanan Funeral home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
