Paulson, Ross (23 March 1870 - 24 November 1965)

 

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for Ross Paulson, 95, a resident of Memorial Home in Neillsville, who died November 24.  The Rev. Paul Doering of the Loyal Methodist Church officiated.  Burial was made in the Windfall Cemetery near Granton.

 

Mr. Paulson was born October 10, 1870, in Denmark, and at the age of two came with his parents to America.  The family first located in Nasonville, where thy cleared a piece of land and homesteaded.  His marriage to the former Maude Raymond took place March 23, 1898 in Greenwood.

 

As a young man he worked in Marshfield and at the age of 20 became a cheese and butter maker. During this time he attended the University-Wisconsin Dairy School.  He operated several cheese factories in Clark County, selling out in 1909.  He then moved to a farm near Granton where he farmed and was engaged in selling horses.  He also did road construction work for many years.

 

In 1929 the Paulson family moved to a farm on the Ridge Road, now operated by his son, C. A. Paulson.  Mr. Paulson retired in 1945 and moved to the city.  In 1963 Mr. and Mrs. Paulson moved to Memorial Home.

 

He is survived by his wife; and the following five children: C. A. Paulson of Neillsville; Mrs. Erwin (Lilas) Voigt of Madison; Raymond Paulson of Neillsville; Mrs. Eugene (Ardeen) Hart of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Norbert (Ruth) Berlick of Neillsville.  Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Emma Rausch of Granton, Mrs. Marie Myslic of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Ed (Lettie) Vance of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one brother, Chris Paulson of Marshfield; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

 

People from out of town attending the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Fay Raymond of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Traina of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Voigt of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Gale Dyer of Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. David Berlick of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond McKimm and Ethel Hall of Marshfield; Mrs. Lucy Harrington and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hart of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Ziegahn of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Christian and Morris Johnson of Milwaukie.

 

Pallbearers were: David Berlick, Loren Christian, Willard Rohde, Leonard A. Traina, Morris Johnson, and Chap Paulson.
