Malinowski, Mary Ann (23 APR 1960)

St. Hedwig’s Church in Thorp, Wis., was the setting of a beautiful spring wedding on Saturday, April 23, 1960, when Miss Mary Ann Malinowski, daughter of Mrs. Rose Malinowski of Withee, became the bride of Jerome Wnek.  Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. John Wnek of Thorp.

The Rev. F.S. Disher officiated and the church choir sang.

The bride, escorted to the altar by her grandfather, wore a floor length gown of hand clipped Chantilly lace fashioned with Sabrina neckline and long tapered wrist length sleeves.  The mandled bodice with sequin embroidery on a miniature waistline accented the bouffant skirt with lace Panniers extending down each side over attending the lace and tulle of the seek train.

Pearls and sequins accented the scallop crown which held the imported silk illusion veil.  White roses and lilies of the valley centered by a large orchid composed the bouquet carried by the bride.

Miss Joan Nowobielski of Thorp, cousin of the groom, was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Miss Pat Malinowski, sister of the bride, Alice Witek, cousin of the bride, and Josephine Malinowski, sister of the bride, all of Withee.  They wore gowns of maize and blue fashioned on empire lines with shawl collards and bouffant floor length skirt of sheer nylon over spring flower prints.  Completing their attire they wore imported braid crowns fashioned with pearl trim and having veils, were in matching colors.  They carried white and yellow carnations and white and blue carnations matching their resses.

Geraldine Halida, nice of the bride, acted as miniature bride, wearing a dress of a miniature copy of the bride, also carried a bouquet of white roses.  James Szemraj, cousin of the groom, acted as ring bearer.

Clarence Piwoni of Chicago, uncle of the groom, was best man, and groomsmen were Gerald Szymanski of Thorp, friend of the groom, David Brickler, Milwaukee, cousin of the groom, and David Witek, Withee, cousin of the bride.

Following the ceremony a breakfast was served to the immediate family.

A reception was held at the parish hall that served 550 people.

The groom is a graduate of the Thorp High School and the bride is a graduate of the Owen-Withee High School.  The couple will make their home near Thorp where the groom is engaged in farming.
