Short, Maggie L. #2 (10 MAY 1883 - 26 JAN 1917)

Maggie Leona Van Fleet was born in Noble Co., Ohio, May 10, 1883, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Van Fleet.  In 1895 she came to Clark County, Wis., which has since been her home.  Here on March 3rd, 1904 she was married to James A. Short.

For years past she has been a patient sufferer, a victim of tuberculosis and another trouble, for which latter, she underwent an operation at the Marshfield Hospital several years ago.  A quiet patient, endearing woman, she was a most beloved wife and mother, daughter, sister and friends.  She is survived by her husband and three daughters, Gail, Opal and Wanda.  The oldest child is eight years old, while the youngest is but eight months old; her parents, and two sisters.  She was a Christian woman, a member of the Shortville Presbyterian Church.  Rev. Planey of the Neillsville Church officiated at her funeral which was held from the house Monday morning.  Interment was made in the Neillsville Cemetery.  The pallbearers were Jesse and Arthur Wilding, Will Stevens, Clarence Irish, Paul Kuhn and Ed Carter.

Deceased always took a deep interest in her church and was a willing and very sincere worker in all community uplift affairs.  A woman who will be sincerely mourned by all who knew her.
