Fields, Elsie Marie  (21 APR 1912 - 17 MAR 1998)

Elsie Fields, age 85, of Neillsville, Wis., died Tuesday, March 17, 1998 at the Neillsville Memorial Nursing Home.

Elsie Marie Fields was born on April 21, 1912 in the Town of Washburn, Neillsville, Wis., the daughter of Peter and Mary (Nichol) Hohenstein.  She was raised in the Cannonville area and attended Sleepy Hollow School, just south of Cannonville.  On Aug. 23, 1934 she was united in marriage to Louis Peron.  After their divorce she married Wilbur Fields on Nov. 8, 1958, in the Sherwood Community Church.  Elsie cleaned many of the Granton area homes and was known as the best cleaning Lady in the world.  She also helped various groups over the years, because of her tremendous cooking skills.  Her cooking abilities affected the whole community.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbur; a niece, Joan (Donald) Benedict, of Fond Du Lac, Wis.;  a nephew, John (Velma) Peroni Jr., of Lake Charles, La.; three step sisters, Myrtle, Elaine and Betty Poler; one step brother, Lloyd Poler, a sister, Gladys (LeRoy) Palchik of Hatfield, Wis.; and many grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

The Funeral Service for Elsie will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 1998 at Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton.  Pastor Jerry Lamb will officiate.  Music will be provided by Jeanette Steiner, organist.  Burial will be in the Windfall Cemetery, Granton.  Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the Gilbertson Funeral Home.
