Raatz, William (13 FEB 1903-20 AUG 1958)


William Raatz, 55, died suddenly at his home at Unity at 9:40 Wednesday morning, Aug. 20.


He was born in the town of Green Grove February 13, 1903. He was married to Josephine Stowe Aug. 2, 1939, at Unity. Mr. Raatz farmed in the town of Unity and beaver all of his life. He lived at his present farm home for the past seven years.


He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Louella, at home; one sister, Miss Anne Raatz, Owen; five brothers, Otto and Edward of Owen; Bernard, Spencer; Robert, Burlington; and Ernest, Mercer. His step-father, John Augustine, also survives.


Funeral services we re held in the Loyal Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Charles Attwood officiating. Pallbearers were John Stowe, Chester Hebert, Ulysses Cain, Ray Lloyd, Alfred Schultz, and Gerhard Scheel.


Flower girls were Margaret Braun, Jeanette Laabs, Rita Lloyd, Verna Raatz, Patsy Raatz, and Joann Raatz.


The hymns, "In The Garden" and "Beyond The Sunset" were sung by Miss Nelda Foelske. Miss Julianne Vajgrt was organist.


Burial was in the Beaver Town Cemetery. Coming from away to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Braun and family and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Pomernig, Rockford, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Raatz and family and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Raatz, Burlington; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Raatz, Mercer; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Raatz and family, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Raatz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Raatz and family, Miss Anne Raatz, Mr. John Augustine, Mrs, Eltha Ptatt, Mr. John Miller, and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Miller. Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Johnson and Mrs. Adell Gottchalk and daughter Myrtle, Colby;


Mr. Harvey Gottschalk, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cook, Melrose; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Day, Wisconsin Rapids; and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wiegman and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wiegman, Illinois, and many other friends and relatives from this area.
