On Saturday, Aug. 13, 1960, Miss Joanne Jalowitz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Jalowitz, became the bride of Mr. Roger Deutschlander, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Deutschlander at a 10:00 a.m. ceremony at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp.
The Rev. Constant Chilicki officiated in the double ring ceremony. The church choir sang, with Al Ciolkosz as organist.
As the bride was given in marriage by her father, she wore a chapel length gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over taffeta styled with a Sabrina neckline, long tapered sleeves and a tiered skirt. Her fingertip veil was attached to a Swedish tiara. She carried a bouquet of white stephanotis centered with a detachable orchid.
Miss Edna Gustafson, Boyd, was maid of honor, and bridesmaid was Miss Jackie Deutschlander, Thorp. Junior bridesmaids were Miss Cheryl Deutschlander, Thorp, and Miss Jean Klugiewiec, Milwaukee. They wore shades of yellow and pink nylon sheer gowns over colored taffeta in ballerina length with matching taffeta cummerbunds, and they carried round shaped bouquets to match their dresses.
Miss Linda Lewandowski, Thorp, was flower girl. Johnnie Jalowitz, Withee, was ring bearer. They were dressed as miniature bride and groom.
Edward Deutschlander, Chicago, was best man and groomsman was Louie Carpenter, Jr., Chicago. Ushers were Al Jalowitz, Withee, and Leslie Deutschlander, Thorp.
Marion Sciesor’s Hall at Lublin was the scene of a wedding breakfast for 100 people, and supper was served at 6:00 p.m. to approximately 375 guests.
The bride’s mother attended the wedding in a blue lace dress with matching jacket. The groom’s mother attended the wedding in a green and white dress with matching cummerbund. Both mothers wore a corsage of pink rose buds.
Hostess for the wedding was the bride’s cousin, Mrs. Len Nowak, Rice Lake.
The bride attended the Thorp High School and is a graduate of 1959. The groom also attended Thorp High School. After honeymooning in northern Wisconsin, the couple is now making their home at Cicero, Ill.
