Ruth A. Rasmussen, 92, Marshfield, died on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Marshfield Care Center, with her family by her side and under the tender care of the staff at Marshfield Care Center and Ministry Home Care Hospice. She had been a resident there for the past 4 ½ years. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 27, at Faith Lutheran Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Robert Lesher officiating. Burial took place in Hillside Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Allan Nikolai, Brent Rasmussen, Kevin Strebe, Tom Baumer, Krista Rasmussen and Shawn Schultz.

Ruth A. Kind was born on Jan. 29, 1920, in Curtis, the daughter of Otto and Mabel (Nee Johnson) Kind. She attended Greenwood High School. She married Raymond E. Rasmussen on July 6, 1938, in Greenwood. He died on Jan. 26, 2005. After their marriage, the Rasmussens farmed in Greenwood for 10 years until moving to Marshfield. Ruth was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed her family and cooking. She always had cookies or a special treat for anyone who came to visit. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.

Survivors include four daughters and two sons, Penny (Don) Nikolai, Marshfield, Dennis (Bonnie) Rasmussen, Marshfield, Bonnie Rasmussen, Minneapolis Glen (Sue) Rasmussen, Castle Rock, Colo., Linda (Rick Hegland) Schultz, Marshfield, and Jean Rasmussen, Marshfield; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two brothers and two sisters, Orlando Kind, Greenwood, Donna Mae Hium, Eau Claire, Darlene Speich, Rosco, Ill., and Otto (Pat) Kind, Jr., Greenwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Karen Nickola; two grandsons, Eddie Rasmussen and Brian Baumer; and a brother, Vernon Kind.

Memorials may be designated in Ruth’s name to the Marshfield Care Center or Faith Lutheran Church.
