MRS. IDA HORN DIES AT NEILLSVILLE


Mrs. Ida Horn, 88, Route 3, Greenwood, Clark County, died at the Neillsville Memorial Hospital on Thursday May 13, 1976 at 4 a.m. Funeral rites were conducted at the Zion United Church of Christ, Greenwood, on Saturday, May 15. Rev. David Logue officiated, with burial in the Forest Hill Cemetery.


Ida Ebert Horn was born on April 7, 1888, at Colby, Wis. She attended Green Grove School. She was married to Otto Horn on June 12, 1909 at Greenwood. He preceded her in death in 1933. She farmed in the Braun Settlement, later making her home with her children.


She was a charter member of Salem Ladies Aid and a member of Zion United Church of Christ.


Survivors include two sons, Harold of Greenwood and Glenn of Thorp and one daughter, Mrs. Adolph (Lorinda) Wessel of Greenwood.
Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Gary Schultz.


Pallbearers were all grandson, Randy, Frank and James Horn, William Schubert and Everett and Emmett Wessel.

Horn, Ida (7 April 1888 – 13 May 1976)

Mrs. Ida Horn, 88, Rt. 3 Greenwood, (Town of Warner) died May 13 in Memorial Hospital at Neillsville, where she had been admitted May 10.

Mrs. Horn, the former Ida Ebert, was born April 7, 1888, in Colby and attended the Green Grove schools. She was married on June 12, 1909, at Greenwood to Otto Horn. He died December 12, 1933. After the death of her husband, she continued to farm with her sons until retiring in 1961. Following retirement, she made her home with her children.

Mrs. Horn was a charter member of the Salem Ladies Aid and a member of the Zion United Church.

Surviving are two sons, Harold of Greenwood and Glenn of Thorp, and a daughter, Mrs. Adolph (Lorinda) Wessel of Greenwood. Nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from Zion United Church. The Rev. David Logue, pastor, officiated. Burial was made in Forest Hill Cemetery, Braun Settlement.

Pallbearers, all grandsons, were Randy, Frank and James Horn, William Schuberg, and Everett and Emmett Wessel.

Gary Schultz sang “Sweet By and By,” and “Softly and Tenderly,” accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Gary Schultz.
