DEATH OF JULIUS MARQUARDT

Julius Marquardt of the town of Hendren passed away at his home north of Globe, Clark County, Tuesday morning, Feb 12, 1929. He had a stroke of paralysis about Thanksgiving day and has gradually failed since that time.

Mr. Marquardt was born in Germany Dec. 9, 1856 and was therefore 72 years, 2 months and 3 days old at the time of his death. He came to this country with his parents when about 6 years of age. The family settled near Westfield, Wis., and there he grew to manhood. When he was 20 years old he went to Minnesota.  In 1884 he was married in Minnesota to Miss Laura Rose who survives him. They lived in Minnesota until 10 years ago, when they moved to Clark County and bought the farm in the town of Hendren.

Mr. Marquardt was a very industrious man and although advancing in years, he continued to carry on his farm until he was stricken last fall. He was highly respected by all who knew him and was jovial and friendly in his manner.

He leaves his wife, 4 daughters and one son to mourn his death: Mrs. James Cooper of Belvidere, Ill. Mrs. Tuelas of Rochester, Minn. Miss Clara Marquardt, also at Rochester Esther, Mrs. Myron Hayes at home, and John Marquardt of Neillsville. One daughter, Mrs. Art Thoma, is deceased. He leaves also nine grandchildren, two brothers, and three sisters.

The funeral was held at Globe Lutheran Church Thursday afternoon, Rev. Motzkus officiating.
