Elmerd Schemenauer (1909 - 1999)


Elmerd Martin Schemenauer, 90, Athens, died Wednesday, Nov. 25 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.


Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 29 at St. John's Catholic Church in Wuertzburg with Rev. Len Stashek officiating. Burial took place at the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Linda Ziegler, Marion Wehrman, Lisa Kroeplin, Shelly Zettler Finck, Pam Gesicki, and Craig Schemenauer.


Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford, Clark County, WI assisted the family with arrangements.


Elmerd Schemenauer was born November 12, 1909 at the Town of Johnson to the late Anton and Alma (Radlinger) Schemenauer.


His marriage to the former Cecilia Calmes, who died November 10, 1999, took place on September 1, 1931. They farmed in the Town of Frankfort and he worked for various construction companies as a heavy equipment operator.


He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Town of Frankfort Board, and ran the township snow plow. He enjoyed football, baseball, managing local teams, fishing, hunting, and his hunting dogs.


Survivors include: three sons, Raymond (Joyce), Athens, Elmer (Patricia), Jackson, and Peter (Marian), Athens two daughters, Susan (Dennis) Nowacki, and Kathleen Zettler, both of Athens two sisters, Amanda Kaiser, Colby, Clark County, WI and Caroline Schillinger, Spencer 28 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.


In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by, two daughters, Joann Remann and infant Mary Jane one sister, Rose Kremsreiter and two brothers, Anton and Gilbert.
