RESIDENT WHO CAME IN COVERED WAGON DIES


Greenwood--Warren Barnett, 94, of Greenwood, Clark County, died last week Thursday in Neillsville.


Mr. Barnett, son of Hiram and Verona Barnett, was born November 11, 1875 in McCloud County, Kan. When he was 15 years old he came to Clark County with his parents in a covered wagon. He farmed west of Greenwood until he moved to the city of Greenwood in 1942.


He entered the Clark County Home for the aged in Greenwood when it began operating 15 years ago. He was hospitalized late in 1969 and was transferred in January of this year to Memorial Home in Neillsville.


Survivors include nieces and nephews.


Funeral services were held Monday from the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood and burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery. The Rev. Lee Holmes of Marshfield officiated.


Pallbearers were Vernon Turner, Larry Turner, Donald Berthold, Robert Clintsman and Dale Clintsman.


Roxanne and Diane Clintsman sang, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Gary Schultz.

 

Family Notes:  Hiram W. Barnett (b. Mar. 21, 1832 in Watertown, Jefferson Co., NY; d. Jun 10, 1915, Loyal, Clark Co., WI) He was the son of George S. Barnett and Sally Allen.  In April of 1856, he married Matilda Mary Forman (b. Nov. 8, 1836 and died Feb. 16, 1862 in Brillion, Calumet Co., WI) in Brillion, Calument Co., WI. Mary Matilda Barnett was their daughter
