Hindal, Irva (1883 - 1962)


GREENWOOD--Irva Hindal, 79, a former Greenwood, Clark County resident, was found dead at his home in Sayler, Calif., Monday, Dec. 31, 1962. The body will be brought to the Hill Funeral Home here Friday morning. Services will be conducted there at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. David Savage, Sheldon, will officiate and burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Mr. Hindal was born Nov. 13, 1883, in Manchester, Iowa, and was married in Lancaster, Iowa in 1907 to Mable Fischer, who died Feb. 14, 1946. The couple lived in Greeley, Iowa for a time after their marriage and went to Montana, where they lived for 15 years. In 1925 they came to Greenwood and lived here until 1934, when they went to Sheldon and lived there until 1945, when they returned to Greenwood. In 1952 he went to California and lived there since. While here, the Hindals lived on the farm now owned by Mrs. Otto Schwarze.


Surviving are a son, Clair, Sheldon five grandchildren a brother, Glen Hindal, Minneapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Krawl, Mason City, Iowa, and Mrs. Ralph (Bernice) Benney, Olwein, Iowa.


In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Irving (Velma) Sherman, who died Sept. 15, 1949, and a sister.
