Hembre, Helmer (1894 - 1966)


GREENWOOD--Helmer Hembre died at 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 1966. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Greenwood with the Rev. Arvid Myhrwold officiating. Burial will be made in a Peshtigo cemetery. The body will repose at the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood from this evening until time of services.


Mr. Hembre was born in Greenwood, Clark County on Nov. 18, 1894, and was a graduate of the Greenwood High School with the class of 1912, and the University of Wisconsin in 1918. His marriage to Edna Mae Sebo took place June 7, 1928, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa.


Mr. Hembre taught vocational agriculture and in veteran's training program in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and resided in La Crosse for many years. Since the death of his wife on May 8, 1962, he had made his home with his son.


In addition to his son, Richard, survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Inga) Ludwigson, Milwaukee; Mrs. Irvin (Lilly) Johnson, Santa Barbara, Calif.; Mrs. Henry (Hilda) Sasada, Alexandria, Va.; and Mrs. Orlando (Edna) Meyer, Cameron; four brothers, Julius, Montevideo, Minn.; Ingvald, Madison Emil, Paradise, Calif.; and Donald, Glendale, Calif.; and four grandchildren.


A brother preceded him in death.
