Boe, Cedric Bruce (1941 - 1965)

GREENWOOD--A Greenwood, Clark County Navyman, Cedric Bruce Boe, 24, lost his life in a carrier accident Monday, Oct. 25, 1965 off Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands, the Navy announced late Thursday.

The aviation electronics mate third class, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Boe, route 2, Greenwood, was lost overboard from the carrier Kitty Hawk.

A Navy spokesman said Boe fell as he was boarding a helicopter, which had been dispatched to search for another sailor who had fallen into the sea. The other sailor was rescued but Boe could not be found.

Boe's parents were notified of the tragedy Wednesday. A naval officer was expected to visit the parents today to give them further information on the accident.

The sailor was born June 4, 1941, in the Town of Mead, Clark County, and graduated from the Greenwood High School with the class of 1959.

He enlisted in the Navy in April 1963 and for the most part was stationed at Imperial Beach, San Diego, California.

(The following information was provided by Cedric's brother Roger - After "Roger(Suzanne) Boe" should be inserted "Hyde Park, NY, Tom(Pat) Boe, Dike Iowa, David Boe,")
