Robertsen, Earl L. (1917 - 2001)


Earl L. Robertsen
, 83, Thorp, Clark County, formerly of the Owen-Withee area, died on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the Victory Medical Center in Stanley, where he was admitted on New Year's Day.


Funeral services for Earl were held on Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. at Maurina Funeral Home in Owen, with rev. Tom Gonzalez officiating. Burial was in the riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Max Rue, Donald Franz, Marvin Mengel, Wesley Kenyon, Lee Kenyon, John Arndt and Ronald Anderson.


Visitation with family and friends was on Friday at Maurina Funeral Home in Owen, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m.
Earl Leo Robertsen was born on Oct. 31, 1917, rural With, the son of Robert and Clara (Gehrke) Robertsen. He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 1945 to Dec. 7, 1946, receiving the army of occupation medal while serving in Japan, the Victory medal and the Asiatic Pacific ribbon.


He worked in Milwaukee as a house painter and truck driver, returning to the Owen-Withee area in the 1970 s, where he continued as a house painter.


His first marriage was to Caroling Robertson. His second marriage was to Jean Robertson, who died in 1976. On Jan. 31, 1981, he and Carol Franz were united in marriage in Withee. Earl had resided in Thorp for the past year and enjoyed his retirement fishing and boating.


Earl will be sadly missed by his family: Wife Carol (Franz) Robertsen of Thorp Sons: Terry Robertsen of Mohawk, Tenn., Robert (Diana) Robertsen of Capron, IL, Deon (Vickie) Wojciechowski of Harvard, IL Daughters: Earlene Odenbreit of Shakopee, MN, Connie Fiegel, of Lake Geneva, Sonia (Gene) Perkins of Belvidere, IL four step-daughters: April (Bill) Anderson of Withee, Jean Kloth of Thorp, Frances Artex of Marshfield, Leslie Stowe of Stanley sister-in-law, Olga Robertsen of Owen and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane in 1976, a brother Ervin Robertsen in 1996, 7 sisters: Edna Robertsen, Marie Plantico, Myrtle Arndt, Pauline Steager, Julie Elmendorf, Mae Elmendorf, and Elsie Stasco.
