Mathison, Annie (1865 - 1955)

GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY Funeral services have been set for 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Grace Methodist Church here for Miss Annie Mathison, pioneer Greenwood resident, who died Thursday morning, Oct. 29, 1955 at Victory Hospital in Stanley at the age of 90 years. Death, due to old age complications, occurred shortly after Miss Mathison was admitted to the hospital.

Friends may call at the Hill Funeral Home here until the time of services. Officiating at the final rites will be the Rev. Mrs. Ethel Nulton, and interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Miss Mathison was a resident of Greenwood for 85 years, having come here in 1870, at the age of 5, with her parents. After their death, she and a brother, Albert, continued to reside on the family farm southeast of here until 1944, when they retired and moved to the city, Making their home with another brother, Henry. He also preceded them in death and in late September of this year they moved to the County Home for the Aged. Miss Mathison was transferred to the Havenet Nursing Home at Owen two days before her death.

In addition to her brother, Albert, she is survived by a nephew, Chester Mathison, Wauwatosa, and one nephew and six nieces in Oregon.

Preceding her in death were three brothers, Henry, John and Ben, and a sister Mary. Her father, Martin Mathison, died in 1907 and her mother, Karen, in 1936, a few months before her 101st birthday.
