Smith, Mark (1877 - 1955)


GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY--Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hill Funeral Home for Mark Smith, a lifelong resident of the Town of Warner, who died at his home Monday afternoon, June 20, 1955, following a lingering illness. He was 77 years of age.


The Rev. Charles Koch, pastor of Zion and West Side Evangelical and Reformed Churches, will officiate. Burial will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Mr. Smith was born Aug. 11, 1877, in the Town of Warner and received his education in Greenwood schools. His marriage to Gertrude Acker took place here Oct. 7, 1929. The couple resided on a farm five miles northwest of here.


Besides his widow, Mr. Smith is survived by a daughter, Miss Shirley Smith, Marshfield, a son, Mitchell Smith, at home, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Dine, Evansville.


The body will repose at the Hill Funeral Home this afternoon and evening.
