Dux, Otto H. (1896 - 1990)


Otto H. Dux, 94, Neillsville, died Monday, May 21, 1990, at 11:25 a.m. at Neillsville Memorial Home. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 24, 1990, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Neillsville. Rev. James Gordon officiated. Burial was in the Neillsville Cemetery. American Legion Post 73 served as pallbearers.


Otto Dux was born Jan. 27, 1896, in Clark County to Fred and Wilhelmina (Nemitz) Dux. He received his education at St. John's Lutheran School in Neillsville. He worked on the family farm and Neighboring farms after school. He entered the service in 1917. After returning home he married Amanda Bub in Kiel, on Oct. 19, 1920. She died Jan. 26, 1980. They lived in the town of York for a short time. He had an orchestra in the 1930's and early 40's. He worked many different jobs, hauling milk by horse and wagon during the depression he was a carpenter and barber and was employed by the Farmers Union in the 50's. He retired from farming in 1960. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and a member of the American Legion Post 73.


Surviving him are one son, Harris Dux, Hudson Mrs. Clarence (Marion) DeCremer, DeForest Mrs. Robert (Julie) Thompson, Neillsville five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.


Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and five sisters.
