Frome, Lydia (1898 - 1990)


Lydia Frome, 91, Colby, died Monday, Feb. 26, 1990, at 7:55 a.m., at Colonial House Living Center, Colby. Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, on Friday, March 2, 1990. Rev. Mark Neumann officiated. Burial was in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.


Lydia (Schumann) Frome was born June 6, 1898, to August and Bertha Schumann in Colby. She received her education in Colby. She married Edwin From Dec. 12, 1917, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Green Grove. They farmed and operated Frome s dairy in the town of Colby for many years. He died Aug. 26, 1977. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid and sewing circle. She was a Sunday school teacher, secretary for AAL Branch 1235 for 10 years, held various offices in the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary, and was a member of the Blue Sky Garden Club, and O.A.O. Homemakers Club for over 50 years.


Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Marion) Mellenthin, Unity Mrs. Donald (Lennice) Barr, Sun Prairie three sons, Edwin Jr., Cecil, Glen, Mission, Tex. William, Colby 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.


Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one son, one daughter, one brother, one sister, and two granddaughters.
