Oestreich, Elmer Arthur (1913 - 2001)


Elmer Arthur Oestreich, 87, Spencer, died on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Colonial center, Colby. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, The Rev. Karl Rose officiated. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, town of Brighton, Marathon County. Pallbearers were Gary Oestreich, Greg Oestreich, Gary Owen, Dave LaBarge, Ed Bauer, and Pat Bohman. Honorary pallbearers were Jesse Bohman, Seth Oppert, Eric Oppert, and Rick Delis.


Elmer Arthur Oestreich was born on May 5, 1913, in the town of Sherman, Clark County, to Alfred and Alvina (nee Lucht) Oestreich. He married Lenora Bruss on Sept. 7, 1935, at the Lutheran Parsonage, Spencer. They farmed and he worked as a milk hauler and a watchman at Land O' Lakes, Spencer, until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.


Survivors include his wife, Lenora Oestreich, Spencer one son, Richard (Lois) Oestreich, Spencer four grandchildren, Gary (Joyce) Oestreich, Spencer Greg Oestreich, Spencer Sue (Gary) Owen, Viroqua, and Debra (Pat) Bohman, Spencer six great-grandchildren three great-great-grandsons one brother, Ray (Marie) Oestreich, Loyal and one sister, Mildred (Herman) Stangel, Appleton.


He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Michael and David.


Community Funeral Home, Spencer, assisted the family with arrangements.
