Finn, Martha E. Downer (1881 - 1926)

Martha E. Downer Finn was born at Eden, Fayette Co., Iowa, Aug. 5th, 1881, died at Chippewa Falls, Wis., April 17, 1926, at the age of 44 years, 8 months and 12 days.

She moved to Hubbard, Minn., in 1855, where she was united in marriage to Mr. Joseph T. Finn on Dec. 30, 1911. In the Fall of 1914 they came to Owen, Clark County, where they have since resided. About 11 years ago she accepted Christ as her Saviour, and since that time has rejoiced in the saving power of Jesus. She was ever ready and willing to extend a helping hand to those in need. She was a true and trusted member of the local unit of the women of the Ku Klux Klan, and will be greatly missed by that order.

She leaves to mourn the husband, an aged mother, three sisters, Mrs. Effa Shaw and Mrs. G. W. Evans of Park Rapids, Minn., and Mrs. S.D. Warren of Owen, also two brothers, Milo and Fay Downer of Menahga, Minn., three step-sons, Charles and Ernest of Milwaukee and Earl of Trommel, Minn., also a large circle of more distant relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Reigel on Tuesday afternoon, April 20th, Rev. W.W. Woodward of Waupaca officiating, assisted by Rev. Chas. Sigglekow and Rev. Lela Oakberg, with interment in the Riverside Cemetery. The funeral was conducted under the auspices of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan with robed clansmen acting as pallbearers M.C.R.
