Wilhelmina Brussow, daughter of Frederich Carl Brussow and Maria Christine Brussow was born in Glogan, Brandenberg, Germany Sept. 20, 1846.
She married Carl Schmidt in Germany, September 20, 1868. Carl was born in Brandenburg Province, Germany November 1842. Buried Pine Grove Cemetery.


OBITUARY - The Loyal Tribune, Sept 20, 1923, pg. 1 CLARK CO. PIONEER LAID TO REST. Carl Schmidt, a resident of Clark Co. for the past forty-three years, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 1923, at the age of 82 years,9 months and 14 days. He was born in Germany in 1840; in 1880, moved his family to Clark Co. and settled in the town of Loyal, where he lived until 1914, when he moved to the town of Beaver, where he lived until his death. He married Sept. 20, 1868 to Miss Wilhelmina Brussow. To this union, five children were born; William, Charles, Amelia, Anna and Gusta. His wife and son William died in 1901 and daughter, Mrs. Peter Schoch in 1912. He leaves to mourn his loss, two daughters, one son, twelve grandchildren. Mr. Schmidt was a man that was respected by all and was a kind neighbor. The funeral services were held at the house at 1:30 Saturday afternoon, Rev. Knaak officiating. He was laid to rest in the Pine Grove Cemetery.

Wilhelmina immigrated, May 22, 1880.with her husband and 4 children. Another child was born in Wisconsin.
Wilhelmina died Oct. 2, 1901 in Tn. Loyal, Clark Co., Wis., at 55 years of Apoplexy. Buried Pine Grove Cemetery. No obituary found.

Wilhelm Schmidt was born in Germany October 1869. Wilhelm died Dec. 26, 1901 in Clark Co., Wis., at 32 years of Bright's disease.
Emelia M. Schmidt was born Sept. 10, 1871 and died Jan. 13, 1928.
Carl W. Smithwas born December 1873 and died April 3, 1947.
Anna Schmidt was born June 25, 1878 and died October 26, 1938.
Augusta Schmidt was born June 23, 1883 and died June 10, 1912.

Emelia M. Schmidt was born in Brandenburg Prov, Germany Sept. 10, 1871
Albert was born in Green Lake Co., Wis. Dec. 17, 1869. He was the son of Fredrick Arndt and Hattie Arndt, both born in Prussia. Albert died Feb. 21,1931 in Park Falls, Price Co., Wis., at 61 years of age. Buried Nola Cemetery Park Falls, Wisconsin.
Emelia died Jan. 13, 1928 in Park Falls, Price Co., Wis., at 56 years of cerebral hemorrhage. Buried Nola Cemetery Park Falls, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Amelia Arndt, 56, a resident of this vicinity for the past 18 years, died at her home in Lymantown Friday noon after a long period of illness. She was born in Germany Sept. 10, 1871 and came to this country when she was nine years old. On October 10, 1891 she was married to Albert Arndt at Loyal, Wis. Through her long residence in this vicinity, Mrs. Ardnt had won herself a host of friends who will miss her genial companionship and words of encouragement in times of trouble, for she was one who was ever present in times of sorrow and grief whe help was needed both by word and deed by those who were in distress Besides her husband, the deceased is survived by one sister, Mrs. William Schraeder, and one brother; Charles Schmidt of Loyal, Wis.; Five daughters, Mrs. Eva Shaw and Miss Pearl Arndt of this city, Mrs. Linnie Craw of abbotsford, Mrs. Elsie Gumselley of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Bert Johnson of Iron Mountain, Mich; and four sons Wallace, Levi, Alfredand Carl, all of Park Falls. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church Monday afternoon, the Rev. B.F. Schoefeld officiating. Burial was made at Nola Cemetery.

She married C. Eugene Shaw in Park Falls, Price Co., Wis., June 29, 1912. Living in Park Falls in 1928. No death record or obituary found.

Linna Arndt was born in Tn. Beaver, Clark Co. Wis. Dec. 1893. No Clark Co. birth record.
She married several times and lived in Park Falls. No death information found.

Elsie M. Arndt was born in Tn. Beaver, Clark Co. Wis. July 17, 1896.
She married George Gunselley in Park Falls, Price Co., Wis., Sept, 20, 1916 Elsie died 1955 in Park Falls, Price Co., Wis., at 58 years of age. Buried in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.

Wallace F. Arndt was born in Tn. Beaver, Clark Co. Wis. May 25, 1898.
Wallace died Mar. 19, 1988 in Butternut, Wis., at 89 years of pneumonia.

Levi F. Arndt was born in Clark Co., Wis. Aug. 12, 1900.He lived in Park Falls.
Levi died Aug. 14, 1977whilevisiting Oconomowoc, Wis., at 77 years of age.

Alfred C. Arndt was born in Clark Co., Wis. Dec. 16, 1902.
Alfred died Feb. 21, 1977 in Park Falls, Price Co., Wis., at 74 years of age.

Violet S. Arndt was born in Clark Co., Wis. April 18, 1903.
She married Charlie Koshak in Park Falls, Price Co., Wis., July 9, 1921.
Violet died Nov. 7, 1985 in Phillips, Price Co., Wis., at 82 years of age.

Pearl W. Arndt was born in Clark Co., Wis. 1907. No Clark Co. birth record.
Pearl died July 28, 1958 in Park Falls, Price Co., Wis., at 51 years of Carcinoma liver. Never married, Secretary for Power Co

Carl W. Smith was born in Germany December 1873.
He married Jessie Clouse in Clark Co., Wis., Jun. 10, 1903. Jessie was born in Tn. Loyal, Clark Co., Wis. Oct. 11, 1883. Jessie died Jan. 31, 1919 in Tn. Loyal, Clark Co., Wis., at 35 years of age. Buried Loyal City Cemetery


OBITUARY - LOYAL TRIBUNE Loyal, Wis. Thurs., Feb. 6, 1919

Mrs. C. W. Smith died at her home in the town of Loyal Friday, January 31st after three weeks of intense suffering, at the age of 35 years. Jessie Clouse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clouse of this village was born Oct. 11, 1883, in the town of Loyal, where she has since lived. She was united in marriage to Charles W. Smith on June 10th 1903. To this union was born one son, David. She is survived by her husband, one son, David, parents, three sisters, Mrs. Ella Dunn, Mrs. Lizzie Kadolph, Mrs. Hulda Bowman, three brothers, Fred, Wallace and Ernest, besides other relatives and a large circle of friends.
The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church on Monday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. E. E. Strevey officiating. Interment was in the Loyal Cemetery.

Carl Smith died April 3, 1947 in the town of Beaver at 73 years of age. Buried Loyal City Cemetery.

SMITH FUNERAL IS CONDUCTED MONDAY Rev. Lee Holmes Officiates at Methodist Rites at Loyal Church Loyal--Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Loyal Methodist Church by the Rev. Lee Holmes for Charles William Smith, 73, a resident of Clark County 67 years, who died Thursday evening, April 3, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls, following a short illness. The Rev. Holmes officiated and burial took place in the Loyal cemetery. Served as Pallbearers Pallbearers were Frank Zuege, Hugh darton, Arnold Stumpner, Arthur Wolfe, Dan Ellison, and Claude Catlin. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Claude Catlin, Mrs. Arthur Wolfe, Mrs. Frank Zuege, Mrs. Hugh Darton, Mrs. Dan Ellison and Mrs. Arnold Stumpner. "Under His Wings" and "Sweet Peace, the Gift of God's Love" were sung by Mrs. Ray Prior, Mrs. Calvin Prior, J. R. Colby, and R. B. Colby, with Miss Marjorie Holmes accompanist. Those attending the funeral from away were Mr.and Mrs. George Heiderer, Mrs. Wallace Arndt, Miss Pearl Arndt and Levi Arndt, Park Falls; Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Garvin, Sparta; Mrs. H. J. Kranzush and Richard Klein, Waukesha; Miss Lilas Schoch, Thorp; Mrs. Marie Seeman, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Dunn, Neillsville; and Wallace Clouse, Chicago. Born in Germany Mr. Smith was born in Breslau, Germany, Dec. 24, 1873. When he was six years old he came to America with his parents and settled on a farm in the Town of Loyal. On June 10, 1903, he married Miss Jessie Clouse, who died in 1919. An only son, David, survives and there are four grandchildren Donald, Jane, Harry, and Lois Smith. Form many of his younger years, Mr. Smith followed the trade of a woodsman during the winter months and farmed during the summers. Soon after his wife's death he and his son moved to Wausau. Two years later they returned and settled on a farm in the Town of Beaver. For the past 26 years he had been living with his son and family.


Carl W. Smith and Jessie Clouse had the following child:

David Smith was born June 27, 1904. He married Vera Garvin in 1923. They lived in town of Beaver and had 2 children, Donald and Jane. She died in 1973 and he died August 10, 1981. Both are buried in Loyal City Cemetery.


OBITUARY - TRIBUNE-RECORD-GLEANER , Loyal. Wed., Aug.12, 1981.


Funeral services for David Smith, 77, Route 1, Loyal, Town of Beaver, Clark County, will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal.
Mr. Smith died at 10:30 p.m., Aug. 10, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.


Officiating at the service will be Rev. Maynard Tokka of Granton. Burial will be in the Loyal Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Rinka Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The body will lie in state at Rinka Funeral Home after 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12.


Mr. Smith was born on June 27, 1904, in the Town of Beaver to Charles and Jesse (nee Clouse) Smith. He attended Sunnyside School in the Town of Beaver and business school in Wausau.
He was married on Oct. 19, 1923, at Loyal to Vera Garvin.


They farmed in the Town of Beaver until retiring in 1973, then they lived there until his illness. She died on July 10, 1973.

Anna Schmidt was born in Germany June 25, 1878.


She married Clifford Almond Stevens in Clark Co., Wis., Oct. 19, 1905. Clifford was born 1873. Clifford died Apr. 20, 1924 in Clark Co., Wis., at 50 years of age. Buried Loyal City Cemetery.
She married William Schradter in Clark Co., Wis., abt.1923. William was born in Wisconsin abt. 1888. William died aft. 1938. Not found buried in Clark Co. cemeteries, 2008.
Anna died October 26, 1938 in Loyal, Clark Co., Wis., at 60 years of age. Buried Pine Grove Cemetery.

OBITUARY - The Loyal Tribune, Oct. 27, 1938, pg. 1. Mrs. William Schradter died Wednesday at 1:15 pm. at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Lindekugel, Loyal, with whom she had been staying the past ten days. Death was caused by cancer after a 2 month illness. thus making her age 60 years, 3 months, and 25 days. Funeral services were held Saturday PM at 2 o'clock at the Lindekugel home with the Rev. J.C. Langholz, Pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church, of Loyal, officiating. Two songs she loved, "Going Down the Valley One by One", and "Rock of Ages", were sung by Margaret Nysted and Maybelle Klein, while Mrs. Jensen accompanied at the organ. Mrs. Schradter, nee Annie Smith, was born June 25, 1878 in Germany. At the age of 2, she came to America with her parents and made her home in the vicinity of Loyal, except the last three years at Park Falls and Athens, where they operated cheese factories. She was united in marriage to Clifford Stevens in 1904, to which union, two children were born (Alta) Mrs. Oscar Lindekugal, Sherman, May, Mrs. Alex Mrotek , Beaver. Mr. Stevens Preceeded her in death. In 1923, she was united in Marriage to Wm. Schradter, who with her two daughters, are left to mourn her loss. Also, one brother, Chas. Smith, of the town of Beaver, Seven grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceeeded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, were carried by Mrs. Fred Strege, Mrs. Albert Ayen, Mrs. Wm. Pockrandt, Mrs. John Habhegger, Mrs. Frank Lindekugal and Mrs. Ed Dobbe. The pall bearers were John Knoll, Gust Voigt, Frank Lindekugal, Percy Vincent, Will Litka and Herman Wolffe. She was laid to rest in Pine Grove Cemetery. Those from out of town, who attended the funeral were Mrs. Eugene Shaw, Milwaukee; Mr. & Mrs. H. Knoll, Sr. and Mr. Henry Knoll, Granton; Mrs. Stanley Boris and daughter, Edgar; Mrs. Pete Ellenbecker and sons, Athens; Mrs. Johanna Schmidt and Mrs. Arthur Gloff, Stratford; Mr. William Nagel and Mr. & Mrs. Leo Bauman, Abbotsford; Mr. & Mrs. Fred Schradter and son, Arpin; Mr. & Mrs. Herman Stargardt and Mrs. Paul Stargardt, Alfred Keuth, Marshfield; Mr. & Mrs. Theo. Lindekugel and family, and Mr. Wm. Uhlman, Neillsville; and Mr. & Mrs. Milton Hawley, Greenwood. Several nieces and nephews were unable to attend on account of the terrific storm. Alta Stevens was born in Clark Co., Wis. September 4, 1905
She married Oscar Lindekugal in Wisconsin, aft. 1930. Oscar was born in Clark Co., Wis. October 26, 1896. Oscar died July 13, 1969 in Marshfield, Wood Co, Wis., at 72 years of age
Alta died October 21, 1981 in Marshfield, Wood Co, Wis., at 76 years of age.
Mae Stevens was born in Clark Co., May 1, 1909.
She married Alex Mrotek in Wisconsin, aft. 1930. Alex was born April 12, 1903. Alex died September 1971 in Owens, Clark Co., Wis., at 68 years of age.
She married Valentine Wojner in Clark Co., Wis., Oct. 24, 1981. Wis.
Valentine was born Feb. 14, 1915. Valentine died June 6, 2005 in Abbotsford, Clark Co., Wis., at 90 years of age.
Mae evidently had no children and died May 27, 1997 in Cadot, Chippewa, Wis., at 88 years of age No obituary.

Augusta Schmidt was born in Wis June 23, 1883.
She married Peter Schoch in Loyal, Clark Co., Wis., November 4, 1904.
Peter was born in Tn. Loyal, Clark Co., Wis. May 28, 1879. He was the son of Jacob Schoch and Justine Klein, Jacob’s sister. They had one daughter, Lilas, before she died in 1912 at childbirth.

OBITUARY Loyal Tribune, June 13, 1912. Mrs. Peter Schoch is dead. That sounds very strange to our ears as we repeat it o'er and o'er, and think. A short time ago she was young, fresh and full of life; but now she is dead. She died on Monday morning, June 10th. , at eleven o'clock with child birth. The deceased was born on the farm of her father, Carl Smith, twenty nine years ago, where she resided up to the time she married Peter Schoch eight years ago this fall. In the death of Mrs. Schoch, this vicinity fully and keenly realizes their loss. She was a true friend, and her devotion to those she loved would make a bright chapter in any life. Beside a devoted husband, she leaves a daughter, relatives and friends to mourn her loss. The last services will be held at the M.E. Church on Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Rev. Kildow officiating, and the remains buried in the M.E. Cemetery (Loyal City Cemetery).

Peter then married Maude Westlake in Packwaukee, Marquette Co., Wis, December 1917. Peter died August 5, 1962 in Packwaukee, Marquette Co., Wis, at 83 years of age. Buried next to second wife, Maude. Augusta buried in Loyal Public, next to Lilas.
OBITUARY - LOYAL TRIBUNE, August 9, 1962. Peter Schock, 83, of Packwaukee, and formerly of Loyal, died Sunday in Packwaukee. He had been in ill health for the past 5 weeks. Funeral services were at Myre Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Doering, pastor of Loyal Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Loyal Cemetery. Mr. Schock was born May 28, 1879 at Loyal. His first marriage was to Augusta Smith on Nov. 4, 1904 at Loyal. She died in June of 1912. In December of 1917, he married at Packwaukee to Maude Westlake, who died November 21, 1961. He was a farmer in the Town of Beaver until 12 years ago, when he moved to Packwaukee. He was also a logger. One daughter, Miss Lilas Schock of Packwaukee, survives him; also a brother Frank Schock of Wausau; one sister, Mrs. Nick (Anna) Breit of Hartford and several nieces and nephews in the loyal area. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.


Augusta Schmidt and Peter Schoch had the following child that lived:

Lilas Schoch was born in Loyal, Clark Co., Wis. April 8, 1907. . Lilas died January 3, 1992 in Plainfield, Waushara Co., Wis., at 84 years of age. Buried next to her mother in Loyal public Cemetery. Father buried next to his second wife.
OBITUARY- WAUTOMA ARGUS Lilas Marie Schoch, 84, died Jan. 3, 1992 at the Wild Rose Manor. She was born in Loyal township in Clark Co. on April 8, 1907, the daughter of Peter and Gusta Schoch. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1926. She spent most of her life caring for other people, and in later years, cared for her uncle William Stewart until his death. They lived in Packwaukee on a farm and moved to Plainfield in 1972, where she resided until May of 1991, when her health necessitated moving to the Wild Rose Manor in Wild Rose, until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include cousins and friends. Funeral services at the Rinka Funeral Home in Loyal, with the Rev. Paul Ashbrook, Wild Rose, officiating. Burial in Loyal Cemetery.
