WILLIAM PINGEL (1854 - 1919)


William Pingel, aged 64, who has been in poor health for some time, died of apoplexy Wednesday morning at his home five mile from Withee in the Town of Longwood, Clark County. Mr. Pingel was born in Germany in 1854, and came to America in 1885, went to work in Sheboygan County.


He was married to Miss Ernestine Schild the same year. They lived six years in Sheboygan, then moved to Clark County and bought the farm on which he and his family resided till death came to him. In disposition he was stern but kind, just and true to his family and those he dealt with.


He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and five children Mrs. Otto Beckman of Thorp, Mrs. Gilbert Hardy of Spirit Falls, Will, Martha and Minnie at home.


The funeral took place Friday P.M. at his home, Rev. J. Hall of the Greenwood Reformed Church officiating. He was laid to rest in the Longwood Cemetery.
