MARY HILL (1806 - 1881)

Died, at her residence in this village (Neillsville, Clark County), at 3 o'clock A.M., May 4, 1881, Mary, wife of Ira W. Hill, aged 75 years.

The deceased, whose unexpected death we are called to chronicle, was born in Dutchess County, N.Y., May 22nd, 1806, and was married to Ira W. Hill, who still survives her and to whom she was ever a faithful and loving wife, in Essex County, in Dec. 1827. In 1835, with her family, she removed to Genesee County, N.Y., where they lived about twelve years, when they came west and settled in Clinton County, Mich. In 1878 they moved to this place, where they have since resided. Mrs. Hill was the mother of four children, three of whom are still living: Mrs. James Hewett, of this place, Mrs. Joseph Eddy, of Eagle, Mich., and Mrs. Wells White, of Toulon, Ill. Mrs. Hill was a member of the Baptist Church and a most exemplary Christian woman, who by a life of usefulness and worth, won from all with whom she associated, respect and esteem. Her sickness, which appeared to be but the weariness of advanced age, was of short duration , and her death, which was wholly unexpected, was but the peaceful ending of a life filled with repletion with usefulness and length of days.

The funeral takes place from the Presbyterian Church, at 10 o'clock this morning.
