Jacques, Janice (3 SEP 1960)

On Saturday, Sept. 3, 1960 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at Thorp, Janice Jacques became the bride of Carl Scheibe in a double ring ceremony performed by Rev. Herbert J. Hoffman at 9:30.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jacques of Thorp and Mr. Rueben Scheibe of Marshfield.

Given in marriage by her father Janice wore a floor length gown of silk organza over taffeta, fashioned with an empire waistline with a square neckline outlined with nylon braid edging.  The long sleeves tapered to points over the writs where they were secured with dainty covered buttons.

The very bouffant skirt, gathered at the hips featured a straight panel in front.  Her shirred nylon headpiece with front bow held the matching fingertip veil.  She carried a colonial bouquet of cushion mums edged in stephanotis and lacelon.

Attending the bride were the maid of honor, Ruth Smigaj, a friend of the bride, and bridesmaids Rosemary Jogodinski of Wis. Rapids, Alice Giwojna of Thorp and Michaelene Romanowski of Park Falls , who wore identically styled chiffon crepe sheaths in Nile green.  The fitted bodice styled with a high scoop neckline and shirred short sleeves.  The waistline was accented by a shirred cummerbund.  The sheath skirt featured a fly away over panel in the back.  They wore large picture hats with shirred net brim, rolled tulle flora outline crowns of straw braid with a large bow in back.

They carried colonial bouquets of ivory Fugi mums.

The groom’s attendants were: Jon Scheibe, brother of the groom, Richard Tulweiler, both of Marshfield, Wis., and Thomas Jacque, brother of the bride of Thorp.

Paul Garten and Ron Aslakson of Marshfield ushered.

After a short honeymoon the newlyweds will be at home at 805 W. Fourth St. at Marshfield where the groom is employed at Felker Bros. Mfg. Co., and the bride is (a graduate nurse) will be employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital there.
