Shefchik, Joseph, (19 NOV 1890-03 OCT 1958

 

Joseph Shefchik, age 67, died of a heart attack Friday, October 3 in a local business place in Loyal. He was born November 19, 1890 in Kewaunee County and was married to Emma Sliby September 20, 1921 at Tish Mills, Wis.

 

When a young man, he moved with his patents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shefchik, to the Loyal area. Shortly before his marriage he purchased the farm where he lived until 1953. That year he retired and moved to the city of Loyal and lived here ever since. While on the farm he served on the town board of the Beaver township and on the school board. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society.

 

The deceased is survived by his wife, two sons Frances Shefchik, Marshfield; Leo Shefchik, Loyal, on the home farm; two daughters, Mrs. James (Irene) Bertz, Loyal; and Mrs. Peter (Evelyn) Beyerl, Colby.

 

Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, four brothers, Charles and Emi Shefchik of Loyal, Albert and Frank Shefchek of Loyal, three sisters, Mrs. Anna Kvitek, Mrs. Wm. Bauer and Sister M. Leonitis all of Milwaukee. A general rosary was said Sunday evening at 10 a.m. at the Myre funeral home.

 

Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal with the Rev. Norbert King officiating and burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hugo Schuette, Bert Brown, John Bannach, William Theisen, Sr., William McKenna and Ben Clouse.

Beyerl and family, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Shefchik, Mr. Frank Shefchik, Sister M. Leonitis, Mrs. Anna Kvitek, Miss Ann Kvitek, Mrs. Wm. Bauer and Edmund Kadow of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs.Martin Kvitek of Manitowoc; Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Bergner, Mishicot; Mr. and Mrs. Chas Nenablo and Mr. and Mrs. Roland Poppe of Kewanee; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Slaby of Two Rivers; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Poziombke, Neillsville; Mrs. Ar Gregory, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Kunich of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shefchek of Greenwood.
