Hare, Flora (21 JAN 1923 04 ARPIL 2012)

 

Flora M. "Flo" "Ma Hare" Hare, 89, Greenwood, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. A private graveside service will be held at 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, at Greenwood City Cemetery. Rev. Marl Schwinn will officiate.

 

Flora Mae Fair was born on Jan. 21, 1923, in Calhoun, Ga., the daughter of Thomas and Mabel (nee Kohl) Fair. She was raised and received her education in Calhoun. As a young woman, she moved to Detroit, Mich., where she worked in the shipyards and met her future husband. She married George Hare on June 8, 1945, at the Lyal Methodist parsonage. They lived in Spencer and Marshfield for some time, before settling in Greenwood. Flo worked at Roddis Manufacturing, later Weyerhauser Door and currently Marshfield Door System, until retiring after 34 years of employment in 1987. Her husband, George, died on Aug. 2, 2004. She continued to live in Greenwood until entering the Clark County Health Care Center in December 2008. She was a member of the Greenwood American Legion Auxiliary for 65 years, and was a member of Carpenters & Jointer’s Local 1733. She had many interests, but especially loved animals, fishing, hunting, trapping, going out to eat, and socializing.

 

She is survived by three children, Cheryl (*John) Boushack, Neillsville, Charles (Cherilyn) Hare, Greenwood, and George (Sue Ladwig) Hare Jr., Greenwood; four grandchildren, DuWayne Boushack, Ruthie Boushack, Wendy (Kent) Hinker, and Brian (Kate Mueller) Hare; four gret-grandchildren, Lexi, Jonah and xander Hinker, and Hadley Hare; one sister, Rosie, Calhoun, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; two sisters, Pearl and Minnie; and three brothers, Vernon, Luke and Richard.
