Matson, Edwin (6 April 1897 - 8 September 1966)

Edwin Matson, 69, died in the Veteran’s Hospital in Madison September 8, following a long illness.

Mr. Matson was born April 6, 1897, in Vernon, S. D. He was a veteran of World War I and served overseas. He was employed by the Rhoades Extracting Company of Merrillan for many years. He married Dora Rumpie May 25, 1925. She survives.

He is also survived by six daughters, Mrs. Gerald Rux of Rockford, Ill, Mrs. Donald Somerville of Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Charles Dolsey of Black River Falls, Helen Matson of Belvidere, Ill., Mrs. Harold Butterfield and Phyllis Matson of Merrillan; two son, Orville of Merrillan and Erven of Lake Mills; a sister, Mrs. Selma Place of Commerce, Calif., and several grandchildren.

Services were held Monday afternoon from the Merrillan Methodist Church, with the Rev. Calvin Carey officiating. Burial was made in the Home Cemetery at Ontario.
