Dobes, Frank C. (2 December 1899 - 16 September 1966)

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning from St. Mary’s Catholic Church for Frank C. Dobes, 67, long-time sheriff and under-sheriff of Clark County who died in Marshfield Friday. Mr. Dobes had been in failing health for several years.

Mr. Dobes, who had served two and one-half terms as sheriff of Clark County, also served for nine years as the under-sheriff under Ray Kutsche. He was considered by area law enforcement officials as one of the finest investigative officers to serve Clark County.

A native of Jackson County, Mr. Dobes was born there December 2, 1889, the son of the late Frank and Anna (Fiala) Dobes. He came to Clark County with his parents when a small child and the family located on a farm in the Town of Levis.

On October 30, 1919, he was married to Anna Hudec in Neillsville. She died in January, 1966. Mr. and Mrs. Dobes farmed until 1944, when they moved to Neillsville.

Mr. Dobes is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Christine Meier of Neillsville, and Mrs. Frank (Julia) Vendl of North Judson, Ind.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society.

A rosary service was said Monday evening at the Georgas Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Ray Kutsche, Frank Svetlik, William Schwellenbach, Harry Frantz, Henry Langreck and Martin Feuerstein.

People from out of town attending the service included Mrs. Frank Vendl, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hudec of North Judson, Ind.; Mrs. Barbara Jezek of Cicero, Ill.; Robert Hudec of Berwyn, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wendell, Chuck Wendell, Mrs. Donald E.
