Marden, William (22 MAR 1875 - 9 SEP 1959)


William Marden, 84, a jeweler for more than half a century, died Wednesday afternoon in his home here. He had suffered a stroke on Aug 24, and was a patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield until Sept 4, when he returned to his home.


Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Grace Methodist Church. The Rev. Ethel Nulton will officiate and burial will be made in the Greenwood cemetery. The body will repose at the Hill Funeral Home and friends may pay their respects until shortly before the services.


Mr. Marden was born March 22, 1875, in Lloyd. He came to Clark County at the age of 5 and lived in Neillsville and Greenwood ever since. He had lived in Greenwood for the last 40 years. His marriage to the former Daisy Hale took place in Hewittville on Sept. 5, 1895. The celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September of 1955.


Survivors include his wife, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one brother, Steven, Bellview, Wash. One son, Kenneth, and a daughter, Mrs. George (Vivian) Clow, preceded him in death.
