St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp was the setting of gladiolas and mums for the wedding of Miss Bernadette Marie Ciolkosz of Thorp and Robert J. Jakubowicz of Boyd, who were married June 3, 1961 at 10 o’clock a.m. by the Rev. George Becker officiating at the double ring ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ciolkosz, Thorp, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jakubowicz, Stanley.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length bridal gown of Chantilly lace over bridal bouquet taffeta and sheer tulle. A scalloped sweetheart neckline etched in sequins and seed pearls with long traditional tapered sleeves accented the fitted basque. The bouffant skirt was fashioned with Gossamer sheer tulle and scalloped lace edged paneln on each side over alternate tiers of Chantilly lace and sheer tulle.

A pearl and crystal crown held her silk illusion fingertip veil which was highlighted with appliques of lace sparkling with sequins. She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses and white stephanotis. The bride place a bouquet at the Blessed Virgin altar while her cousin Al Ciolkosz played the “Song of Bernadette.”

The bride’s gift from the groom was a crystal rosary and a white gold cross, and the groom’s gift from the bride was a black crystal rosary.

Attending the bride were Miss Pat Jakubowicz, Stanley, sister of the groom, as maid of honor. She wore an orchid street length dress with a scooped nylon sheer bodice, styling the fitted basque. Their bouffant skirts were styled with two scalloped tiers. Matching crowns of hair braid trimmed with crystals held their blush veil. Rita Mahr, Minneapolis, friend of the bride, in green, Virgie Chura, Stanley, cousin of the groom, in pink, Julie Derks, Boyd, friend of the couple in yellow. They wore identical dresses to the one worn by the maid of honor. They all carried bouquets of carnations to match the color of their dresses. The bridesmaids’ gifts from the bride were crystal necklaces and white gloves.

The flower girl was Maxine Jakubowicz, sister of the groom, wearing a floor length gown of lace over taffeta, featuring a scalloped sweetheart neckline embellished with sequins and seed pearls. The bouffant skirt was fashioned with sheer tulle and a scalloped lace edged panel on each side over alternate tiers of lace and tulle. A double crown trimmed with crystals and pearls held the blush veil which had appliques of lace sprinkled with sequins. She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses and stephanotis. The flower girls gift from the bride was a white gold cross.

Attending the groom as best man was Mitch Ciolkosz, brother of the bride, Richard Jakubowicz, Boyd, brother of the groom, Ronnie Ciolkosz, Thorp, brother fo the bride, Eddie Ciolkosz, Thorp, brother of the bride. Flower boy was Bobby Burzynski, Thorp, nephews of the bride. Ushers were Leonard Ciolkosz, brother of the bride, and John Derks, brother-in-law of the groom.

The bride’s mother witnessed her daughter’s wedding wearing a mocha dress and coat ensemble with white accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. The groom’s mother wore a beige lace dress with white accessories and a corsage of yellow roses.

A dinner and reception were held at the P.N.A. Hall, Thorp, with the Jolly Polkateers providing the music for the reception and dance.

Following a wedding trip of two weeks through Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois, the young Mr. and Mrs. Jakubowicz will be at home at Rt. 1, Boyd. There were guests at the wedding from Berwyn, Cicero and Chicago, Ill., Sheboygan, Montana and Minnesota.
