Henthorn, J. Olin (15 JAN 1882 - JUL 1961)

J. Olin Henthorn, 79, of the town of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), died of coronary thrombosis at the home of his son Carl at Madison, Wis., where he and his wife were vacationing.

Mr. Henthorn was born Jan. 15, 1882 in Sylvan, Richland Co., Wis., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Henthorn. He lived in his early years in Richland County where he married Julia Waggoner (now deceased) in 1901. He lived on a farm for several years, then moved to Readstown where he operated a large feed and machinery store. He started buying and selling cattle, which he enjoyed and which he continued to do until his death.

He moved around Wisconsin and eventually came to Blair. He married Gladys Nething of Whitehall, Wis. on March 31, 1947 at Decorah, Iowa. They lived seven years in Washburn, and then moved to Stanley where Mr. Henthorn became associated with L.C. Christensen Livestock Sales as office manager, completing 25 years as cattle buyer for that concern.

Mr. Henthorn was one of nine children. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister in infancy, and a sister, Clara, and three brothers, Clem, Lester, and Ernest later in life.

The deceased is survived by his widow, Gladys, Stanley, two daughters, Thelma, Mrs. Ernest Grim, Janesville, and Virginia, Mrs. Francis Goode, Madison; two sons, Carl Henthorn, Madison, and S/Sgt. Orville Henthorn, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas; and one step-son, Wilbert Nething of Stanley. He also leaves one sister, Bess Austin, Viola, Wis., and one brother, Harley Henthorn, Viola, seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Stanley at 1:00 p.m., July 6th, by Rev. S. Phillip Froiland and of Chippewa Falls and interment took place at Saylvan, Wis., where he was born. Pallbearers were Harold Christensen, Abbotsford, Roman Lunderville, Eau Claire, Albert Hrdlicka, Jim Falls, Monroe Hanson, Eau Claire and Leonard Soeller and Imbert Qualheim of Stanley.

Henthorn and son Vincent, Mrs. Delores Frick, and Mrs. Carla Topp, Madison, Mrs. Iza Jones, Milwaukee, Mrs. Charles Zepke, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McClellen and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Lean, Edgerton, Mrs. Robert Soule, Cassville, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Heal, Readstown, Mrs. Henry Engen, Whitehall, Mr. and Mrs. Roman Lunderville and Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Hanson and daughter Linda, Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Morth Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Christensen, Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hrdlicka and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hrdlicka, Jim Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Peak, Washburn, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Krause, Thorp, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Machel of Phillips.
