Humbird (23 February 1967)

Our acting postmaster is Willard Stanley, and to help him get started the postmaster from Cadott came Monday to initiate Mr. Stanley in the work of our modern postoffice which grows more complex as the years go by.

Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kirby and Kathy drove to Milwaukee Friday and were guests at the Arnold Seelow home until Sunday. Saturday they attended the wedding of their grandson, Michael Seelow.

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Christen and Robin of Eau Claire and MR. and Mrs. Herman Christen and Nancy of Hixton were afternoon and supper guests Sunday at the Elmer Duerkop home.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Mattie accompanied their daughter, Mrs. Claire Enerson, to Eau Claire Tuesday, where both had checkups at the clinic. Mr. Mattie had very good reports and Mrs. Matti must still take it easy and have treatment.

Walter Burkhalter of Rockford, Ill., spent the weekend at the Albert Olson home.

Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Dignin called Sunday afternoon at the Ellis Williams and Fred Barr homes.

Mrs. Jim Trachsel and children were afternoon and supper guests Sunday at the Fred Trachsel home. Jim joined the family for supper to help celebrate little Holly’s fourth birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe drove to Loyal Saturday afternoon to join Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Schlei of Green Bay for a housewarming at the Ben Clouse home. Mr. and Mrs. Clouse have just recently moved into their new home. Mr. and Mrs. Laffe and Mr. and Mrs. Schlei returned home Sunday.

Kenny Seelow of Milwaukee came Saturday night to spend until Sunday at the Dewey Walker home and visit his mother, Mrs. Christine Hanson.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Allen Called Sunday at the Fred Barr home.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Duxbury visited Saturday at the home of her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Iyron Standke in Onalaska and in the evening called at the Carroll Duxbury home near Merrillan.

Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett visited Sunday at the Harley Randalls home in Hixton and drove to the Indian Mission near Black River Falls to see the new housing development.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael McKevitt and children of Merrillan spent Sunday at the Harold Hart home.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kopp and children visited Sunday at the Russell O’Leary home.

Dr. Robert Norfleet of Marshfield was here Saturday to call at the Fred Trachsel home. A short time ago Dr. Norfleet bought one of Mrs. Trachsel’s paintings and liking it very much, decided he would like another one. He was please to find another beautiful picture which he bought to add to his collection.
