Sopiarz, Joseph (16 FEB 1886 - 8 MAR 1963)

Joseph Sopiarz, 77, passed away of old age infirmities at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls, on Friday, March 8, 1963.

Mr. Sopiarz, a retired farmer, was born Feb. 16, 1886 in Poland, coming to America in 1903 and resided at the following places: Chicago, Ill., St. Paul, Minn. and Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis. In 1906 he married Mary Biehl in Chicago, who preceded him in death, along with two sons.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 11 at St. Hedwig’s Chapel. Father Ed Masalewicz officiated at the ten a.m. services and burial was in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Joseph Panek, Ignace Przybylski, Jack Hmielak, Victor Zielinski, Adam Lesniewski Sr. and Walter Kryzanowski.

Surviving are five sons, Joseph of Cicero, Ill., Edward of Sylvanis, Ohio, Leon and Walter of Chicago, John of Thorp; five daughters, (Mathilda) Mrs. Felix Zukowski, Gilman, (Elizabeth) Mrs. Anton Maslowski, Thorp, (Helen) Mrs. Quentin McHeffey, Chicago, (Valerie) Mrs. Ted Lipinski, Thorp, (Dolores) Mrs. Donovan Jensen, Eau Claire.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. Edward Biel, Mrs. Estelle Nelson, Mrs. Ed Fibuch of St. Paul., Minn.; Mrs. Frank Sopiarz, Milton Sopiarz, Mrs. Mary Bilek, Mrs. Ben Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Koscinski, Mrs. Connie Schimek, Stanley; Walter Piekarski, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Sopiarz, Cicero, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. Quentin McHeffey, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sopiarz, Leon Sopiarz, Chicago, Ill.; Edward Sopiarz, Sylvanis, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Donovan Jensen, Eau Claire and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sopiarz Jr. of Chicago, Ill.
