Loppnow, Anna (16 Aug 1870-24 Nov 1960)

Mrs. Anna Loppnow, one of the pioneers of Clark County died early Thursday morning, November 24, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Art Lautenbach.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal with the Rev. V. A. Ganz officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Soloist was Mrs. Romaine Rossow who sang, “Heaven is my Home” and “Just as I am”. She was accompanied at the organ by Carol Noeldner. Pallbearers were William Butterbrodt, Leonard Denk, Verland Dux, Bert Brown, Fred Heiking and Chester Smith.

Mrs. Loppnow, nee Anna Horst, was born in Rubicon, Dodge Co. August 16, 1870 and she reached 90 years three months ago. She attended a parochial school there and was married to John K. Loppnow at Hartford, October 19, 1893. They lived on a farm in Hartford for a year and a half and in 1895 moved to a farm in the town of Loyal where they were one of the first settlers. She lived there for 65 ½ years until 1958 when she moved with her daughter and son-in-law into the city of Loyal. Her husband died June 7, 1953. Mr. and Mrs. Loppnow had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary October 19, 1940. She was the oldest living member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Art (Ida) Lautenbach and Miss Sophia Loppnow, both of Loyal and a brother, Edward Horst of Milwaukee. She is also survived by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Two daughters, Helene & Rose and five brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Catlin, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Horst, Conrad, Mrs. Art Eimer, Mrs. Paul Wolf, Mrs. Dan Regan and Henry Zickuhr, all of Hartford; Mr. and Mrs. Garhardt Zickuhr and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Zickuhr of Hobart, Indiana.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gerlin, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Voss, Horicon; Mrs. Leonard St. Dennis, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Colby and Jill, Crystal Lake, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lautenbach, Granton; Miss Linda Lautenbach, Milwaukee; Mrs. Ella Schlinsog, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. William Foot, Granton; Mr. and MrsErvin Froemmel, Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Loppnpw, Oconomwoc.
