Flynn, Thomas Lee (1 July 1938 - 25 September 25, 2012)

Thomas Lee Flynn, 74, Greenwood, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, with his family by his side.

Thomas was born July 1, 1938, the son of Norbert John and Bernice may (Statler) Flynn in Townsend. Tom married the love of his life, Karen Lee Schmidt, Jan. 10, 1966.

He worked hard all his life, starting out as a woodman, then working in construction, carpentry, race car driving at the Slinger Super Speedway and as a diesel mechanic before becoming an over-the-road truck driver and owner operator since 1974. Tom and Karen traveled all over the United States for many years as a team. He especially loved the Seattle area and traveling through the mountains.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, taking his family on many memorable trips to Devil’s lake in North Dakota for the best walleye fishing in the country. His favorite was bear hunting with his girls in northern Wisconsin and spending time with family and friends reminiscing about his travels and hunting stories and playing cards with his family and friends, especially his special girl Hailey.

Tom is survived by his wife, Karen (Schmidt) Flynn, Greenwood; children, Stephen (Gay) Flynn, Greenwood, Jeff (Barb) Flynn, Menomonee Falls, Kelly (Steve) Acheson, Menasha and Becky Flynn, Menasha; grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Andrea, Meghan, Hailey, Jacob, Emma, Jasmin, Stephanie, Anna and Steven; a brother, Norbert (Coralee) Flynn, Townsend; sister, Sharon (Carl) Fisher, Girard, KS; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and friends all over the country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Bernice Flynn of Townsend, and his best friend, Hank Knoll of Greenwood.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
