Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 31 for Mrs. Carl (Vivian) Schmidt, 62, of Middleton, who died at 5 a.m. Monday at the University Hospital at Madison. She had been in ill health for several years.

Services were held at the Myre Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Doering officiating, and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery. The body had lain in state at the Myre Funeral Home from Tuesday noon.

The former Vivian Severson was born April 11, 1899 in the town of Warner, Clark County, and she was married on Nov. 3, 1923 at Granton to Carl Schmidt, who survives her. They lived in the Clark County area until 1941 when the family moved to Bennett. Three years ago they moved to Middleton.

Mrs. Schmidt is survived by her husband; three sons, Herbert, Superior; Elwood, Middleton; and James, Middleton; four daughters, Mrs. Garth (Lorraine) Luchterhand, Loyal, Mrs. Theodore (Doris) Sannwald, Superior, Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Bertrange, Waunakee, and Miss Phyllis Schmidt, Middleton; and eight grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Clause Severson and Hugh Severson, both of Greenwood; eight sisters, Mrs. Erenst (Dorothy) Molle, Unity; Mrs. Lester (Gertrude) Schuette, Unity; Mrs. Vernal (Mabel) Bold, McClusky, N.D.; Mrs. Paul (Bertha) Brandt, Franksville, Mrs. Tom (Marian) Ozanich, Milwaukee, Mrs. Abe (Grace) Lunz, Milwaukee, Mrs. Harry (Lieda) Kurtzheim, Milwaukee, and Miss Anne Severson, Milwaukee.
