Shookman, Wayne (16 MAY 1898 - 6 MAR 1963)

Funeral services for Wayne Shookman, 64, of Abbotsford, who died wen
, March 6, 1963, were held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Rev. Andrew Berthold officiating at the mass of requiem. Interment was made there in the Catholic cemetery.

The pallbearers were Joseph Kramer, Marshfield; Charles Hafferman, Chester Fahrenbach, Vince Hirsch, Fred Bix, and George Brost, all of Medford.

Mr. Shookman was born May 16, 1898, the son of Christ and Erma Shookman, at Gotham, Wis. He was educated at Stanley and Gilman schools and began his railroad career in 1917. He was a railroad telegrapher and was planning retirement in May, after 46 years of services with the Soo Line. He worked at Medford, Abbotsford, Colby, Spencer and Milan stations.

Wayne Shookman and Durana Gilman of Medford were united in marriage. At Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Medford, Sept. 8, 1920. They lived at Medford for a while and in March 1940, moved to Abbotsford and were members of St. Bernard's Catholic congregation.

Mr. Shookman was visiting Mrs. Shookman, who is hospitalized at Memorial Hospital, Medford, when his unexpected eath occurred there Wednesday afternoon about 2 o'clock.

Besides Mrs. Shookman, he is survived by two sons, Capt. Wayne A. Shookman, in the Air Force, Waco, Texas, temporarily on an overseas assignment, and William J. Shookman, Abbotsford. There are eight grandchildren.

An only sister, Mrs. John Palmer of Gilman, also survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Close relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William J. Shookman, Abbotsford; Mrs. Wayne Shookman and family, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. John Palmer, Gilman. Other relatives and friends from Pennsylvania, Marshfield, Medford, Colby and Abbotsford also attended the rites.
