Halida, Stanley, Sr. (13 December 1924 - 27 November 2012) With Flag

Stanley Halida, Sr., age 87, of Lublin, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at his home under the care of Hope Hospice & Palliative Care. Funeral series were held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Rev. Madanu Sleeva Raju officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: Otto Cwikla, Chad Losiewicz, Cory Halida, Dakota Halida, Dustin Dmytro, Barry Dmytro, Joshua Penk, and Adam Penk. Visitation was held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Stanley Halida, Sr. was born on December 13, 1924 in Moundsville, WV to John and Mary (Jopa) Halida, who worked in the coal mines of Ashland, WV. His family moved to Lublin, WI in 1936 and bought a diary farm in the Town of Roosevelt. Stanley attended school in the Lublin area and also attended Gilman High School. He enlisted in the United States Army on April 10, 1943 and served during World War II. During his enlistment, Stanley received the following honors: WWII Victory medal, Good Conduct medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal, and the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.

After his discharge from the military on January 29, 1946, Stanley worked in Chicago, IL as a welder and later married Stella Malinowski on October 29, 1949. Stanley then bought his parents’ dairy farm in Lublin in 1951 and farmed in the Townships of Roosevelt and Maplehurst for 30 years until selling the farm to his son and daughter-ion-law, Stanley and Dorothy Halida, Jr., in 1981.

Stanley served on the Maplehurst Town Board for many years as assessor and supervisor. He enjoyed the outdoors immensely, where he loved to hunt and FISH…a lot of fish will breathe easier now!!!

He is survived by his wife, Stella Halida; seven children: Barbara (Donald) Cwikla, Mary Losiewicz, Stanley (Dorothy) Halida Jr., Geraldine Dmytro, Carolyn (James) Penk, Raymond (Susan) Halida, and Roger Halida; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Edward Halida and Lawrence (Harriet) Halida.

Stanley was preceded in death by: his parents; two sons-in-law: Richard Losiewicz and Jeffrey Dmytro; three sisters: Dorothy, Helen, and Virginia; and two brothers: Leo and Frank.
