VERNA HELWIG/ROBERT ZETSCHE MARRIAGE

Miss Verna Helwig and Mr. Robert Zetsche were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Amundson, in this village, Thursday afternoon, June 14th, 1917, Rev. James Irish, of Merrillan, performing the ceremony. The contracting parties are both well and favorably known here, the young lady having resided in this community all her life and attained the womanly characteristics and virtues most commendable. The groom has been principal of our graded schools for two years, where he has been successful and gives excellent satisfaction and his graduating exercises this year attested to his excellent ability. A large company witnessed this interesting incident, among who were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zetsche and Mrs. Fahey of Greenwood, Clark County, father, mother and sister of the groom. The young couple was beautifully attired and was attended by Miss Nellie Helwig and Mahlon Nordahl. The house was appropriately decorated. After the beautiful ceremony, all partook of a bountiful repast. The esteem in which this young couple is held by their friends was expressed in many beautiful and expensive gifts. Many friends extend congratulations and wish them a happy and successful future. (Jackson County Journal)
