Longwood Twp., Clark Co., WI

Contributed by Duane Horn

Arthur William Horn, son of Robert & Christina (Braun) Horn, was bom in the town of Longwood on August 18, 1894. He lived in the town until joining the service.

At the time of his discharge he was a Corporal in Co. "D" 54 machine gun Battalion 18"' Division stationed in San Antonio, Texas. After his discharge in 1919 he moved to Onaka, South Dakota, where he farmed for many years.

On October 18, 1960 he married Agnes Nelson and moved to Aberdeen So. Dakota.

He passed away in Aberdeen on January 25, 1963. His body was brought back to Clark Co. and he is buried beside his parents in Forest Hill Cemetery at Braun Settlement.

NOTE: I heard a story that when he finished basic training, his outfit was sent overseas to France. Art and a few other enlisted men remained in the states. He exchanged addresses with many who left for France and they all agreed to keep in contact with each other. He never heard from any of them again. He was of the opinion that the ship was torpedoed somewhere in the Atlantic and all his buddies went down with the ship. By Duane Horn, nephew of Arthur.
