James Putnam White was born Nov. 16, 1845 in Pennsylvania and was the son of William C. & Emeline (Rice) White.  He was a veteran and we assume that he fought for the Union Army in a Pennsylvania regiment, but have not verified that.  He married Ellen Dillion on September 30th, 1893  in Marathon County, Wisconsin.  She had a son, Roy, from a previous relationship.  Together, James and Ellen had at least one son and named him Russell.

James died May 28th, 1905 and was laid to rest in the Colby Memorial Cemetery in Colby, Wisconsin.
