Hodnett, Eileen (25 May 1925 – 24 November 2020)

Eileen Kuehn Hodnett Lindner passed on November 24, 2020 surrounded by family at the Woodland Hotel in Owen.

Eileen was born on 25 May 1925 on her parent's family farm in the Town of Warner, Clark County. She was the fifth of six children born to Hubert Ernest Kuehn and Lena Seibold. Eileen attended the rural "Decker" School in the Town of Warner for eight years, graduating from eighth grade in 1939. Eileen then attended Greenwood High School graduating in 1943. Her childhood interests included playing piano and singing in the church and school chorus. Eileen worked during the summer of 1942 in Milwaukee County (Shorewood), as a mother's helper. Eileen worked during the summer of 1943 at the Roddis Company in Marshfield, helping make airplane wings for the British DE Havilland bomber, used to protect England during World War II.

Eileen then attended Eau Claire State Teacher's College (now known as UW-Eau Claire) for two years and received a degree in Rural Education in 1945. Starting in the fall of 1945, Eileen taught school for five years in various Clark County rural Schools. Eileen met Harold Harvey Hodnett at Merry Old Garden's Dance Hall in Longwood, while celebrating her twenty third birthday in 1948. Eileen and Harold were married at the Immanuel Church in the Town of Warner, Clark County, in an evening candle light ceremony on 30 October 1948. After their marriage, they settled on a dairy farm in the Town of Longwood, Clark County. They retired from farming in 1968. Eileen then began work as a Nurse's Aide at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, in 1972. She worked in the health care field at the Health Care Center until 1991. Eileen's hobbies over the years were many. Including reading, embroidery, and all kinds of sewing. Other interests and activities included cooking, canning, crossword puzzles, volunteer 4-H Club leader (1961 - 1967), playing piano, and teaching Sunday school. She was also very active in the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. Past memberships include member and secretary of the Owen-Withee Bit and Spur horse club, and member of the Helping Hand Sewing Club in the Town of Longwood.

Eileen’s husband Harold died in 2006. She married Vincent “Pete” Lindner in 2008. Eileen and Pete lived in Loyal from 2008 until Pete died in 2016. They were very active in Loyal senior citizens activities, including the Loyal Corn Festival. Eileen and Pete were proud “Winter Texans” and they spent seven winters in south Texas. Eileen lived in Owen, at the Woodland Hotel since the passing of her husband Pete in 2016.

Eileen is survived by her seven children: Allan (Bridget), Karen (Tim), Nancy, Lois, Lynn (Jan), Kay (Donald), and Larry (Donnelle). She is also survived by four step children from her marriage to Peter Lindner: Patrick, Kay Schultz, Darlene Woodkey, Judy Olson, and their extended families.

She is further survived by 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Two grandchildren and one great-grandchild preceded Eileen in death.
