Bergant, Marian (1887 - 1983)


Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Friday, May 27, 1983, at Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, for Marian Bergant, 96, formerly of Willard, Clark County.

Marian Bergant died on Tuesday, May 24, 1983, at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville

Officiating at the service was Rev. Michael Mertens of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. Burial was in the Willard Cemetery.

Marian Grosel was born to Valentine and Katherine Grosel on Feb. 12, 1887, at Gorenska, Yugoslavia. She received her education at Yugoslavia.

On April 21, 1906, she and Frank Bergant were married at Ely, Minn. In 1914, they moved to Willard, where they farmed in the Town of Hendren, retiring in 1960. For the past eight years she has been resideing at Memorial Home, Neillsville.

She was a member of SMPJ Slovian Lodge.

Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. August (Mary) Stremikis of Willard, Mrs. Amelia Bogolin of Western Springs, Ill. and Mrs. George (Angeline) Popacek of Rice Lake two sons, Frank of Neillsville Home and Anton of Cicero, Ill six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Walter Krultz, Frank Celar, Alvin Kaltinger, John Zagozen, Bill Bayuk and George Popacek. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, handled arrangements.

She was predeceased by her husband and one son, John.
