Geiger, Daniel J. (12 DEC 1954 - 25 JAN 2013)

Daniel J. Geiger, age 58, of Dorchester, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013, in the town of Mayville.

Dan was born December 12, 1954, in Medford to Norbert and Geraldine (Beyer) Geiger. He attended St. Louis Parochial School and Colby High School.

He was employed at his father’s trucking business driving a semi. He later became an owner/operator in his own trucking operation.

On December 14, 1974, he married the former Shelby Kalepp. They later divorced.

He continued driving semi’s for a time and later worked assembling and maintaining pipelines.

His hobbies included fishing, gardening, growing apple trees, coin collecting and watching the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America Local #268.

Survivors include his son, John (Denise) Geiger, Chetek; parents Norb and Gerry Geiger, Dorchester; siblings John (Elfriede) Geiger, Colorado Springs, CO; James (Charlene) Geiger, Holcombe; Steve Geiger, Peoria AZ; Kathleen (Dennis) Reynolds, Dorchester; Sandra (Dave) Behnke, Dorchester; Kurt (Jennifer) Geiger, Potter; Pamela (Kirk) Kalepp, Dorchester; and three grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Rev. Daniel Hackel will officiate. Burial will follow in Dorchester Cemetery. His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday at the church in Dorchester from 9 a.m. until time of services. Serving as his pallbearers will be his brothers, John, Jim, Steve and Kurt Geiger.
