Henry Fenner Funeral Services

Henry August Fenner, who resided in Spencer since 1920, passed away at his home Tuesday morning, May 20th, at 9:30 o’clock of a heart ailment from which he had suffered for several years, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 11 days.

Mr. Fenner, a retired contractor, was born July 9, 1871 at Springfield, near Westfield, Marquette County, Wisconsin, the son of Fredrick and Augusta Singfile Fenner.

In early manhood he learned the mason trade and after several years at his work he engaged in farming in Waushara County, later moving to a farm in Adams County. In 1912 he moved to Grand Marsh, Wisconsin where he entered the general contracting business, remaining there until 1920 when he came to Spencer and continued in the contracting business until 1941 when failing health made it necessary for him to discontinue business.

On March 14, 1900 Mr. Fenner was united in marriage to Estella Jones at Westfield, Wisconsin, to this union was born one daughter, Irene.

October 8, 1871 he was baptized in the Evangelical Church at Westfield. At the time of his marriage he united with the Presbyterian Church at Westfield and remained true to that faith the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Woodman of the World the past 38 years.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, Mrs. Estella Fenner and daughter Irene (Mrs. Arthur Hoard), Rock Island, Ill. Two brothers, Reinhardt Arendsee, Rockford, Ill., Otto Arendsee, Laurium, Mich., and one sister, Mrs. Lydia Bennett of Rockford, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at the Swarthout Funeral Home Friday, May 24 at 2 p. m. The Rev. R. J. Fleming officiating. Interment was made at West Spencer cemetery.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Arendsee and Mrs. Lydia Bennett, Rockford, Ill.; Mr. Otto Arendsee and daughter Verna, Laurium, Mich.; Mrs. Luella Mienkle, Westfield; Mr. Victor Fenner and son, Robbie, Ripon; Mr. and Mrs. Ferd King, Princeton, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Adee, Markesan; Mrs. Alfred Becker and Mrs. Elmer Beals, Fond du Lac; Mrs. Carl Bloss, Grand Marsh; Mrs. Harry Stapels, Hudson; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jones, Ogema; Vernon and Claude Jones, Prentice.

Pallbearers were Glen Damon, Lige Niman, Howard Stewart, Guy Ingham, Atwater Elliot and Ray Parrette. Those in charge of the flowers were Mesdames Mary Hoftiezer, Mary Eliot, Julia Ingham, Margaret Shupe, Gertrude Stewart, Elinore Luepke, Anna Schwantes and Grace Jacobitz.
