Cook, James Leo (April 23, 1941 - February 28, 2010)


James "Jim" Leo Cook, 68, Rib Lake, died Sunday, Feb. 28 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

 

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home in Rib Lake. Inurnment will be at Leavitt Creek Cemetery in the Town of Hill at a later date.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.


James Cook was born April 23, 1941 in Superior to the late John and Esther (Lehto) Cook. The family moved to Ogema and he attended school in Westboro and was a graduate of Hylandale Academy.


On August 6, 1966 in Phillips, he married Linda Maki. They later divorced.

 

He was employed at Omark, was a mechanic at Brantwood Corner Store and later logged.


He was a member of the 7th Day Adventists.


Survivors include four children, Darla (Dale) Raleigh of Brantwood, Brenda (Clair) Essie of Madison, Lawrence of Rib Lake and James (Courtney) of Medford; a sister, Marjorie (Wayne) Babcock of Marvell, Ariz.; a half brother, John Cook of Indiana; a half sister, Rosemary Steller of Indiana; five grandchildren, Lee, Kyle, Brett, Jena and Ethan; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Kenneth; and an infant granddaughter, Courtney Jo Cook.
