Carroll, Edna Mary (Rogers) (April 4, 1919 - September 3, 2010)

Edna Mary Carroll, 91, Medford, died Friday, Sept. 3 at Memorial Nursing & Rehab Center in Medford, under hospice and palliative care.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 6 at Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home in Medford, with Pastor David Clements officiating. Interment was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers were Mike Holtz, Derek Carroll, Megan Carroll, Andrea Fuchs, Dean Carroll and Wayne Fuchs.


The former Edna Rogers was born April 4, 1919 in the Town of Goodrich to the late Albert and Elizabeth (Pogatsch) Rogers.

She attended Woodville Graded School. She worked on the family dairy farm then moved to Chicago, Ill., where she worked as a housekeeper, then returned to Goodrich.


On March, 10, 1937 in Elgin, Ill., she married Oliver Lester Carroll, who preceded her in death on December 14, 2008. They lived in Chicago for eight years where they owned a café, then moved back to Greenwood, then to Goodrich.


She was a member of the Goodrich Ladies Birthday Club. She enjoyed cooking, canning, watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and attending garage sales.


Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Carroll of Freedom; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Carroll of Goodrich; a son-in-law, Gerald (Marlene) Holtz of Rib Lake; four brothers, Earl Garret of Central Point, Ore., George Rogers of Phillips, Larry (Alice) Rogers of Waukesha, and Jimmy (Eileen) Rogers of Marshfield; six sisters, Mildred Cochran of Peoria, Ill., Nina Neumueller and Lucy (Clarence) Rothamer, both of Medford, Patricia (Verlyn) Bristol of Marcellus, Mich., Betty Thomas of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Carla (Eddie) Smola of Athens; two sisters-in-law, Stella Rogers of Bowling Brook, Ill., and Shirley Rogers of Rib Lake; six grandchildren, Dean (Loni) Carroll of Westboro, Derek (fianceé Tami Thums) Carroll of Eau Claire, Debra (Wayne) Fuchs of Goodrich, Michael Holtz of Long Beach, Calif., Jennifer (Nicholas) Hogenson of Wautoma and Megan Carroll of Freedom; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Madeline Holtz; a son, Albert; two brothers, Archie Rogers and Edward Rogers; a sister, Mary Poirier; a sister-in-law, Thelma Garrett; and a brother-in-law, Bob Neumueller.
