Burzynski, Florian (April 27, 1922 - December 19, 2009)

 

Florian Burzynski, 87, Gilman, died Saturday, Dec. 19 at Gilman Care Center.

 

A Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Dec. 22 at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, with Father John Long officiating.

 

Florian Burzynski was born April 27, 1922 in Thorp to the late Adolph and Cecelia (Olejniczak) Burzynski. He graduated from Thorp High in 1940 and grew up in the area.

On August 19, 1944 at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, he married Rose Brandt, who survives.

 

He farmed for many years in the Town of Ford and later ran the Burzynski Insurance Agency until retirement. He also founded the Gilman Area Credit Union. He enjoyed playing baseball in his early years, Canadian fishing trips, hunting and golfing.

 

In addition to his wife, survivors include five children, Lawrence (Anna) of Palm Springs, Calif., Elizabeth (Marshal) Harris of Desert Palms, Calif., Barbara (Randy) Ahlers and Mary Ann (Arthur) Krull, both of Eau Claire and John of Gilman; three sisters, Phyllis Kotlowski of Adams, Eleanor Winger of DePere and Loretta Smith of Sun City, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Edward.

 

Gilman Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
